As previously reported on The Drill Down, China has a vested interest in the left’s suicide mission to go green. American climate cultists are welcomed with open arms by Beijing which sees weakness in the left’s lunge into renewable energies as a boon for the CCP.
For example, as reported in our article THE CCP’S LITHIUM PLAY: Nevada Dems Back Mine That Will Enrich Our Biggest Enemy:
China may only be the world’s third-largest lithium exporter at 14,000 metric tons a year (behind Australia and Chile), but they are responsible for 80% of global Li-ion manufacturing. They also dominate the supply chain, including mining and refining of battery materials.
So every politician rushing to go green is also rushing to put cash in China’s pocket. Electric cars need batteries and batteries need lithium. The CCP can’t wait for America to “go green.” They’ll make money hand over fist —including money from a massive lithium mine in Nevada.
China has skin in the green energy game. So it’s no surprise that the big red menace has a hand in banning America’s gas stoves —a hotly contested topic over the last month.
From The Free Beacon:
Climate Imperative…lists Chinese Academy of Sciences professor Wang Yi as a member of its advisory council. The group does not disclose, however, that Wang also serves in China’s legislature, the National People’s Congress. Wang even sits on the Congress’s Standing Committee, according to a Chinese environmental research group to which he belongs. That committee consists of government insiders who wield state power to accomplish Communist Party goals when the full Congress is not in session.
…
In addition to his role as a Climate Imperative adviser, Wang advises the Chinese government on climate change through the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), a CCP-approved group that provides “policy recommendations to the Chinese government on environment and development.”
Wang also appears to be affiliated with the China Association for Promoting Democracy.
“They are subservient to the CCP,” the expert, who spoke on background to discuss the issue candidly, told the Free Beacon. “The idea is that they create these spin-off groups that are designed to appear to be independent in some kind of way from the CCP, when they’re actually controlled and directed by the CCP.”
So, Wang Yi is tied up in climate policy and taking direction from the CCP. Green energy groups such as Climate Imperative have been calling for a gas stove ban ever since Biden took office, with serious progress being made last month.
What doesn’t China have a hand in at this point?
