China Is Prepping an Oil-Price 'October Surprise' // Schweizer joins Solomon & Head

Investigative journalist Peter Schweizer believes China will surge its purchases of oil in August and September in part to sabotage the US midterm elections against Republicans.

It’s a bold prediction, but Schweizer explains.

Since the outbreak of the US war with Iran, he says, “China has been tapping their massive — and I mean massive — reserves. They’ve cut back their imports of oil by 5 million barrels a day, and they are the largest importer of oil on the planet,” he said.

“Well, come August and September, their reserves are going to start getting pretty low,” he told John Solomon on Real America’s voice on Thursday. To refill its stockpile, China will then need to purchase about 5 million barrels per day, which will cause worldwide oil prices to rise sharply. “My fear is that this is going to lead to a spike in prices. We’re going to see above $100, maybe even more than $110 a barrel. And that this is going to be partly by China, designed to undermine the prospects of Donald Trump’s political party, the Republicans, in the midterm elections.”

“It could amount to an ‘October surprise’ that could have a very real bite in this election and could influence the outcome of the election,” Schweizer told Solomon and co-host Amanda Head on Real America’s Voice.

Birth Tourism

Schweizer’s last several books have addressed various threats to the US by China, including “birth tourism,” Chinese women traveling to US territories on tourist visas to give birth to children who will get a US birth certificate before returning to China. He said he disagrees with the recent Supreme Court ruling on birthright citizenship, which essentially ignored this problem, but believes Congress is finally ready to address birth tourism by foreign nationals legislatively.

“I applaud these members of Congress for moving in this direction. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced a bill last year to try to rein in birth tourism,” Schweizer said. As for the politics of such a move, he added, “this is an 80%-20% or even 90%-10% issue” for American voters.

“If you are prepared to defend birth tourism — that somebody can literally fly here, have a child, leave the next day if the child’s safe to fly, go home, and then that child can return at the age of 18 and vote in our elections — then we might as well not have borders,” Schweizer said.

Chinese Voter Data Hacking

Solomon began the segment talking about President Trump’s speech to the nation last week detailing China’s theft of 220 million American voter records during the last election cycle. Most of the mainstream press yawned and ignored the story, but Schweizer sees a pattern.

“The evidence is the evidence,” he told Solomon and Head. “They [the media] can pretend it doesn’t amount to anything… but they’re not even reporting the evidence to the public.”

Schweizer documented how the Chinese coopt American business interests in his book, Blood Money, and for him, “this fits a broader pattern with major media outlets. They are generally part of conglomerates. ABC News, of course, is part of Disney, and Disney has huge commercial holdings and dealings in China. They do not want to be in the bad graces of the CCP,” Schweizer said.

For China, he continued, “that strategy has worked, and I think it continues to work with these media outlets.” But he notes that today’s information environment makes that strategy by the Chinese less potent.

“The good news is they don’t control the flow of news information anymore. There are programs like this. There are websites. There is social media. So, it’s very hard for them to contain this information,” Schweizer said. “That’s why I think we’ve seen a shift on this issue of China — not because of the mainstream media, but despite it.”
