Let’s take a trip back to January 2021. Before Biden blew the Afghanistan withdrawal; before inflation crippled the middle class; before gas prices cleared $7 a gallon; before migrant encounters at the southern border cleared 2 million in a fiscal year…
…before Joe Biden got his mitts on America.
Mr. Biden came in hot —ready to undo much of the positive progress made under Trump-era, America first policies. This, of course, included a promise that no more work would be done on that evil, racist, wall at the southern border. It was just too evil —and walls didn’t work, anyway.
“It shall be the policy of my Administration that no more American taxpayer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall. I am also directing a careful review of all resources appropriated or redirected to construct a southern border wall,” Biden wrote on January 20th, 2021.
(He also promised “a comprehensive and humane immigration system that operates consistently with our Nation’s values” —but don’t even get me started)
1 border crisis, 2 million crossings, and a few dozen blue-state bus trips later —walls work again.
According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection meeting last week, the Department of Homeland Security is readying a series of “remediation plans” to address safety concerns at the border. “Remediation plans” is code for “we don’t want to admit we were wrong.”
“DHS intends to prioritize funding on those remediation projects that are needed to address life and safety, including the protection of the public, U.S. Border Patrol agents, and nearby communities from potential harms, and avert further environmental damage or degradation,” the CBP website states.
According to Just The News, “Small gaps will be closed in the wall in addition to work such as completing unfinished gates and fixing drainage areas, but large holes in the border will remain, a Border Patrol Environmental Planning official [confirmed].”
So repairing small gaps but leaving large holes? While it’s nice to see the Biden Administration reluctantly admit that the wall serves an important purpose, the White House is too far down the “evil, racist” rhetoric road to pull an about-face of large-hole proportions.
So, as Vice President Kamala Harris says —despite glaring evidence to the contrary — the border is “secure.” Blue-state lawmakers and bleeding hearts will continue to compare Abbott and DeSantis to Hitler —bussing is just like the Holocaust, after all.
Or how about this: walls work and Martha’s Vineyard is lovely this time of year.
When will Democrats stop the nonsense?
