Maybe Mr. Buttigieg thought “Transportation Secretary” meant taxpayer-funded trips?

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg hasn’t been very effective in the role; he famously vanished on paternity leave while the shipping crisis reached a fever pitch and hundreds of boats gathered off the coast of California. Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn blasted Buttigieg at the time.

“We’re in the middle of a transportation crisis, and Pete Buttigieg is sitting at home,” said Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). “Meanwhile, cargo boats are unable to dock and shelves are sitting empty. Pete needs to either get back to work or leave the Department of Transportation. It’s time to put American families first.”

Buttigieg also made a show out of getting rid of racist roads. (Yeah, it’s a thing apparently.)

Now, the former Mayor Pete is being blasted for taking taxpayer-funded flights all over the world —including one last spring to the Netherlands with husband Chasten.

According to Fox News Digital, “Buttigieg traveled from Joint Base Andrews to Rotterdam, Netherlands, for the fifth Invictus Games via ‘MilAir Flight’ on April 15 and returned two days later on a military aircraft, according to a calendar obtained by Americans for Public Trust (APT) and shared with Fox News Digital. Photos and media reports concluded that his husband, Chasten, also traveled to the Netherlands with him.”

Senator Josh Hawley’s press secretary torched Buttigieg for the move.

“Your holiday flights were delayed or canceled but Pete Buttigieg brought his husband on a military aircraft to attend a sporting event in the Netherlands,” Josh Hawley’s Press Secretary Abigail Marone tweeted.

And this is just one of 18 private jet flights Buttigieg has taken. Now, Florida Senator Marco Rubio wants an investigation into the Trans Sec’s travel history.

“I have long worked to ensure effective controls regarding leadership and staff travel and reducing the risk of fraud, waste, and abuse,” Rubio wrote on Dec. 16. “Therefore, I ask that you conduct a review to determine whether Secretary Buttigieg’s travels were in compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.”

Pete should be more careful with taxpayer money.
