Key Points
- President Biden is considering two appointees with ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
- Reta Jo Lewis, Biden’s nominee to run the Export-Import Bank, and Mitch Landrieu, the infrastructure czar.
- They have partnered with organizations tied to China’s United Front Work Department.
China is a threat. Period. And less than one year into Joe Biden’s Presidency, Americans are seeing just how entangled the First Family is with the Chinese Communist Party. Hunter Biden’s tragically underreported business dealings should have been enough; a five-star red flag.
But they weren’t. Some media outlets still won’t even report them. The Drill Down and Peter Schweizer have covered the Bidens extensively, so we’re not surprised by this at all…
According to the Washington Examiner, President Biden has selected two candidates for government roles that are strategic advisers for a pro-China business group.
“Reta Jo Lewis, Biden’s nominee to run the Export-Import Bank, and Mitch Landrieu, the infrastructure czar , are listed as ‘strategic advisers’ for the U.S. Heartland China Association, which regularly partners with organizations tied to the Chinese Communist Party’s United Front Work Department — China‘s foreign influence arm described by Xi Jinping as a ‘magic weapon.’”
Look no further than our government’s very own website for the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission to see how dangerous the United Front really is:
“China uses ‘United Front’ work to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The CCP’s United Front Work Department (UFWD)—the agency responsible for coordinating these kinds of influence operations—mostly focuses on the management of potential opposition groups inside China, but it also has an important foreign influence mission. To carry out its influence activities abroad, the UFWD directs ‘overseas Chinese work,’ which seeks to co-opt ethnic Chinese individuals and communities living outside China, while a number of other key affiliated organizations guided by China’s broader United Front strategy conduct influence operations targeting foreign actors and states.”
Crazy, right? A simple Google search is all it takes.
The Examiner also highlights the U.S. Heartland China Association’s (USHCA) ties to the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Sounds…friendly, right? Nope. In 2020, the State Department said that the CPAFFC was “tasked with co-opting subnational governments” and “has sought to directly and malignly influence state and local leaders to promote the PRC’s global agenda.” Then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that and more —even accusing the CPAFFC of being part of the UFWD.
In October of 2019, then-candidate Joe Biden promised Iowa reporters: “No one in my family will have an office in the White House, will sit in on meetings as if they are a cabinet member, will, in fact, have any business relationship with anyone that relates to a foreign corporation or a foreign country. Period. Period. End of story.”
Lots of lies in that sentence, Joe. We know Hunter’s tied to the CCP and now you’re considering more CCP-friendly candidates? Let’s let Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) have the final word:
“Reta Jo Lewis is the wrong person to lead the U.S. Export-Import Bank, but she will fit right in as a member of Biden’s team of polite and orderly caretakers of America’s decline. The main reason for the Ex-Im Bank to exist is to help America outcompete China across the globe. If Lewis cannot and will not engage in that competition because she spent years trying to forge stronger ties between American companies and the Chinese Communist Party, then we will need a new nominee.”
