Are the Democrats pulling the Big Apple even further to the left?
Vice President of the Government Accountability Institute Eric Eggers sounded the alarm on the rise of far-left candidates during a recent appearance on TBN’s Allen Jackson Now.
Eggers says Zohran Mamdani’s rise in NYC isn’t so much an acceptance as it is a rejection — and it’s a warning sign of the radical left’s growing influence in local politics.
Eggers criticized Mamdani’s platform as emblematic of a broader push toward socialism that threatens to upend American values and institutions.
People in New York City “should be worried” about becoming the next San Francisco, Eggers said.
“[Mamdani’s] appeal is a rejection of the status quo, the status quo in New York, of course, being what happens when you are run by Democrats as that as they have been for decades. So it’s not like people in New York City love the idea of a socialist. It’s that they hate what your idea has become under Democratic rule, under direct control,” Eggers said.
Eggers continued: “New York City has much higher crime than it did pre-pandemic, while the rest of the country’s crime trends have gone down. Its economy has declined while the rest of the country’s economy has recovered post-pandemic. New York City has been left behind. And so it’s not that the citizens are
choosing to be socialist. They just try to reject what it’s been.”
