HARD PILL TO SWALLOW: Eggers Says Trump’s Big Pharma Takedown Shocks DC Insiders [WATCH]

Trump catches Big Pharma, D.C. insiders off guard…

GAI Vice President Eric Eggers joined Chanel Rion on OAN recently to discuss President Trump’s executive order pressuring pharmaceutical companies to lower U.S. drug prices within 30 days or face regulations based on international benchmarks.

Eggers praised Trump’s bold move against Big Pharma’s influence and dismissed critics pointing to Trump’s ties with Qatar over a Boeing 747 gift. He emphasized Qatar’s recent $96 billion deal with Boeing, highlighting the creation of American jobs, while criticizing Boeing’s repeated delays on delivering replacements for Air Force One.

Eggers talked about the latest episode of The Drill Down.

“On this episode, we feel like we were able to combine two stories that seemed different. On the one hand, here’s Donald Trump and he’s doing something that people thought no one could do; he’s standing up to Big Pharma. We played clips on this episode from members of Congress who said, look, you know, Big Pharma is so influential in Washington, D.C. there’s a reason why this doesn’t get done,” Eggers said.

Eggers continued: “We thought it was a really big deal when Joe Biden was able to negotiate prices for ten of these drugs. And here’s Donald Trump saying, ‘No, no, no, we’re going to stand up and we’re going to stop subsidizing big profits, for these very powerful drug corporations when other countries are paying a fraction of the cost.'”

“So here’s Donald Trump, on one hand, standing up to special interests.”

“And then when it comes to the Qatar plane, people say, ‘Look, here’s an example of Donald Trump being for sale.’ But his stance on the Big Pharma story suggests the opposite is true. So, that’s why we feel like they relate, and that’s why we feel like you have to consume all the news in a much broader context than most media shows,” Eggers added.
