Why is convicted felon and man of questionable repute Hunter Biden joining top White House aides in private meetings following President Joe Biden’s rough debate night? The embattled First Son’s being at the White House isn’t unusual but his presence in meetings is new.
NBC News reports Hunter has also been talking to senior White House staff.
Asked to comment, White House spokesman Andrew Bates said: “Hunter came back with the President from their family weekend at Camp David and went with the President straight into speech prep,” referring to Biden’s remarks on the presidential immunity decision.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre echoed Bates’ comments and seemed similarly dismissive of Hunter’s proximity to the president.
“Why is the president’s son in meetings?” one reporter asked KJP this week.
“He came back with his dad from Camp David, he walked him into the speech prep, and he was in the room,” KJP explained.
While the Biden White House is quick to dismiss any cause for alarm, not everyone agrees. NBC News Justice correspondent Ken Dilanian shared his thoughts on X.
“Hunter Biden has joined meetings with President Biden and his top aides this week at the White House, four people familiar with the matter tell my colleagues, who are told the reaction from some senior White House staff has been, ‘What the hell is happening?’” Dilanian said.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer shared Dilanian’s post, reminding his followers about the sordid past of Hunter Biden. Comer posted:
Hunter Biden:
– Made millions from China, Russia, and other foreign entities by selling access to Joe Biden
– Used Joe Biden’s status as Vice President to avoid federal investigations
– Referred for criminal prosecution for lying to Congress
– Charged with tax-related crimes investigated by the IRS
– Convicted for lying about drug use on a federal background form when buying a gun in 2018
– Admitted that CCP-linked CEFC Chairman Ye Jianming was a business partner
Right. So why is Hunter Biden in White House meetings, again?
