Alejandro Mayorkas —can the guy do anything right?

After an absolutely brutal lashing on Capitol Hill administered by Lone Star State Senator Ted Cruz this week —in which he called the DHS Secretary “revolting” and said “ if you had integrity, you would resign” —we’re now hearing that the perennial border failure is wasting government funds on welcoming migrants into the country.

Which is kind of the exact opposite of his job.

According to The Washington Times, “Known as the humanitarian relief program of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program, the money is paid to nonprofits to conduct COVID testing, provide bus or plane tickets for migrants to go from the border to destinations in the U.S., and assist them with housing and other needs once they arrive.”

The Federal Emergency Management Agency runs this whole policy initiative and they fall under, you guessed it, the Department of Homeland Security and crackerjack border ace Alejandro Mayorkas (who is still insisting he has “operational control” of the border).

“Homeland Security’s inspector general studied some of the program’s $110 million in spending during 2021 and found the local nonprofits often used the money for purposes beyond what was intended,” The Washington Times reports.

Shocking.

“In nearly a quarter of cases tested, investigators said the people getting services weren’t even eligible,” The Times continues. “Most of those were migrants who sneaked in successfully, evading Border Patrol agents, so they never went through the catch-and-release process. Others were caught and released years ago, yet still showed up for newcomer services.”

So Mayorkas and Co. are spending money on migrants who broke into the country illegally and then showed up for their prizes? Can you think of another operation in the United States that’s run as inefficiently as this one? You can’t. (Okay, maybe the IRS).

“These issues occurred because, although FEMA and the National Board developed the detailed funding and application guidance for the humanitarian relief funds, they did not provide sufficient oversight to enforce the guidance to ensure funds were used as intended,” the inspector general concluded.

A lack of oversight is becoming a common theme in the Biden Administration. They love signing checks but have little concern for where the money goes or how it’s spent.

How can we fix our broken border with these clowns in charge?
