TALKING TARIFFS: Eggers Says Relax — Trump Knows What He's Doing, This is a 'Recalibration' [WATCH]

GAI Vice President Eric Eggers says the media meltdown over President Trump’s use of tariffs is overblown, that Trump reacting to the market isn’t necessarily bad, and that Americans should expect volatility as the economy recalibrates under Trump 2.0’s trade vision for America.

Eggers shared his thoughts during a recent appearance on Fine Point with Chanel Rion; he started by taking a shot at left-wing media outlets for their overreaction.

“CNN and MSNBC are certainly experts in market collapses, because that’s what happened to their audience over the last five years,” Eggers joked. “So they’re very familiar with the idea of recessions and significant volatile drops. But I would think, you know, to go to the thing you said initially, I don’t know why it would be a bad thing if the Trump administration demonstrated what I believe you refer to as a sensitivity to market reaction.”

Eggers continued: “Remember Donald Trump, when he was president the first time presided over soaring market highs before, of course, the COVID pandemic reset everything. So this is someone who has a track record of not just being sensitive to what the market wants, but in helping to lead it to historic gains.”

“They’re attempting to negotiate these bilateral deals as they relate to the EU. You’re talking about a 27-member union bloc that can’t just operate on a dime the way that the Trump administration can. So, of course, it’s going to take some time. I think the fact that he levied the tariffs initially demonstrated that he was very real about his desire to do so,” Eggers added.

“We’re talking about a full fundamental recalibration of the power dynamic between the United States and the rest of the global economy. It’s going to be messy. There are going to be hurt feelings, and it’s going to take time. And so I think, whatever the process looks like to get there, I do believe the Trump administration is confident we will get there.”
