Is DOGE the real deal? Schweizer thinks so…
During a recent episode of The Drill Down, hosts Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers dove into the aggressive DOGE cuts carried out by Elon Musk and his efficiency team.
“And here’s the thing — you know that it’s real,” Schweize said. “You know that it’s real because when Republicans have come in the past, they’ve said, ‘We’ve got to cut, but we’ve got to raise the defense budget,’
right? They didn’t want to talk about defense because that was a core issue.”
Schweizer continued: “They’re going after everything. And that’s the way it should be because there is vast waste and inefficiency at the Pentagon. I’m not even talking about DEI. I’m talking about basic programs and the way they fund things. There was an inspector general report about a year or so ago on the Pentagon about literally billions of dollars in unaccounted-for credit card payments that had been put on Pentagon credit cards!”
“Some of them were to like to strip clubs … there is all kinds of waste in government, and nothing is sacred, which is, I think, the way it should absolutely be.”
“Yeah, it’s a fundamental reshaping of the government, spending, and using American tax dollars. It should be a fundamental reshaping of the way we talk about what they’re doing, but instead, the news coverage continues to be, ‘He’s Trump, he’s Hitler. It’s somehow a coup, even though we got elected,’ I don’t totally get it,” Eggers said.
Democrats and the corporate media may have made a grave error opposing the DOGE cuts, which, according to polling, are popular with most Americans. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt blasted the press on Friday for seemingly being against the routing out of waste, fraud, and abuse.
“I love how the media takes a few critics when the overwhelming response from the American people is support for what this administration is doing,” Leavitt said. “If you look at the public polling, 70% of Americans, according to CBS, believe that President Trump is delivering on the promises he made. And there should be no secret about the fact that this administration is committed to cutting waste, fraud, and abuse — the president campaigned on that promise and Americans elected him on that promise and he’s actually delivering on it.”
Later in the exchange, Leavitt asked the reporter: “Why is the media so against cutting waste, fraud, and abuse? … We will not be deterred [by] people like you.”
