Moving Biden’s Goalposts

You aren’t allowed to move the goalposts when you are losing the football game—but if you are a politician, it’s just part of the job. And Joe Biden isn’t just any politician, he’s the president. On the latest episode of the Drill Down podcast, Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers revisit one of the biggest stories to come out of the Government Accountability Institute: Hunter Biden’s messy business career.

First, President Biden said Hunter never got money from business deals in China. Then, when he could no longer deny that, he said he never discussed business with his son—even though both flew to China on Air Force Two during the Obama Administration on business — Joe doing work as Vice President, and Hunter, as a well-connected son striking massive deals that Goldman Sachs would be jealous of.

Schweizer’s new, and best-selling, book Red Handed details Beijing’s strategy of “elite capture” as part of its effort to outcompete the United States. Offering sweetheart deals to the children of high-ranking officials has proved a potentially crucial win for China. But with mainstream media fitfully acknowledging the truth about China and Hunter Biden, as laid out by Peter and his team of researchers at the Government Accountability Institute, one can hope that the tide is starting to turn.
