A new report from the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party reveals that the CCP has been incentivizing fentanyl production via government funding and tax breaks. China is subsidizing fentanyl precursor chemicals being used to ultimately kill Americans.

“Many of these substances are illegal under the PRC’s own laws and have no known legal use worldwide,” the 64-page report states. “Like its export tax rebates for legitimate goods, the CCP’s subsidizing of illegal drugs incentivizes international synthetic drug sales from the PRC. The CCP has never disclosed this program.”

Government Accountability Institute President and New York Times bestselling author Peter Schweizer, who was first to report on this story, says the report “is an important first step in our government’s acknowledging what China is doing to America’s young people. But it’s only a first step. China’s involvement in the fentanyl trade goes much deeper than tax breaks for the producers of the precursors. China is involved at every step of the deathly fentanyl chain.”

Schweizer’s book Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans exposes how China is killing Americans and working aggressively to maximize the carnage while our leaders remain passive and, in some cases, compliant.

The committee’s bipartisan investigation also found the CCP holds an ownership interest in several Chinese companies tied to drug trafficking. And that’s not all.

According to The National Review, the CCP also “impedes U.S.-led investigations into manufacturers producing fentanyl and precursors, allows the open sale of drugs on the Chinese internet, and fails to censor online content on narcotics set to be exported.”

“These actions and omissions are abhorrent, violate the laws of nations, and have led to profound human suffering in the United States and around the world,” the report reads. “They also, as a factual matter, further the PRC’s strategic and economic interests.”

During a public hearing on the matter this week, former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr said the committee’s report was “groundbreaking.”

“The Committee’s work has uncovered persuasive evidence that the PRC and CCP are not just bystanders; they are the prime movers,” Barr said. “They are knee-deep in actively sponsoring, encouraging, and facilitating the production and export of fentanyl and fentanyl precursors for distribution in the United States.”

Like Schweizer says: this is only the first step. There’s much more to be done to tackle this crisis and prevent the CCP from killing American citizens.
