A Feeding Our Future fraudster just got another decade behind bars, and Government Accountability Institute Vice President Eric Eggers says the case points to a much bigger web of connections.
Abdiaziz Farah, already serving 28 years for his role in the massive Minnesota child-nutrition fraud, was sentenced to another 10 years after admitting he helped plot to bribe a federal juror with $120,000 in cash and the promise of more for an acquittal.
For Eggers, the prosecution is another data point in what he called a troubling pattern.
“The number of relationships you have just continues to add up,” Eggers told The National News Desk, arguing the potential criminal associations are becoming “a part of a much larger trend.”
Correspondent Geoff Harris highlighted a Daily Wire report alleging that Rep. Ilhan Omar’s sister incorporated a consulting company at an address linked to people convicted in the fraud, and aired old footage of Omar promoting Safari restaurant, which later became connected to the Feeding Our Future investigation.
Omar has denied knowing about the fraud, calling allegations against her or her office “flat out false.”
Eggers, however, says the political response deserves scrutiny too.
“Unfortunately, one party seems to be actively working to protect these criminal enterprises,” he said, “rather than working alongside the federal authorities to help root all of it out.”
