Here comes equity…
Back in June 2021, the Department of Veteran Affairs lifted a 20-year ban on gender-affirming care for trans veterans, allowing such procedures to be covered by VA benefits.
“[This is] allowing transgender vets to go through the full gender confirmation process with VA by their side,” VA Secretary Denis McDonoughMcDonough said at the time. “We’re making these changes not only because they are the right thing to do, but because they can save lives.”
“Transgender veterans deserve equal access to medically necessary and life-saving healthcare, including gender confirmation surgery,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis at the time. “This news is not only an overdue victory for transgender veterans, but the latest move from Sec. McDonough and the VA in affirming LGBTQ veterans.”
And so, the military’s relationship with gender ideology grew closer.
Now, the Biden Administration has included funds for transgender treatments in the 2024 budget, all in the name of equity.
“Recognizing the diversity of America’s veterans, the Administration is also taking action to advance equity across veterans’ services,” the budget reads. “In addition to ending the ban on transgender service, the Administration is committed to providing gender-affirming care to the Nation’s veterans — and last year, the VA announced that it was extending survivor benefits to certain survivors of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex veterans.”
Biden’s $6.8 trillion dollar budget mentions “equity” 63 times, “transgender” eight times, and “queer’ seven times.” “Fentanyl” is only used twice and “opioid” appears just four times.
Biden shared news of his budget on Twitter: “I’ve now laid out my budget,” he said.“Republicans in Congress should do the same.”
The GOP says Biden’s budget has no chance of getting through the House.
“Anybody who’s took economy 101 would know this is the wrong approach. We’ve got an economy worried about whether we’re going to go downward, and he wants to take taxes. That’s all he ever wants to do to create the biggest government we’ve ever had. And then what does he do about the deficit? He just adds to it,” Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on Fox News’ Mornings With Maria.
“All that spending Democrats did while they were in power, and now he wants to spend more? So now, we have to pay the piper. We’re going to pay more than $10.5 trillion in the next 10 years just on interest,” he added.
It will be tough for President Biden to push “woke” while America is quite literally going broke.
