During a recent interview, Fool’s Gold authors Susan Crabtree and Jedd McFatter joined host Chanel Rion on OANN’s Fine Point to discuss their explosive new book.
The book alleges that power players like Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi drove California into crisis through failed policies and ties to the Chinese Communist Party—posing a growing threat to the nation.
From Newsom’s China-linked nonprofit allegedly funneling billions (and criminals) into San Francisco, to the city’s fentanyl crisis and its ties to Chinese triads, the authors lay out a sweeping case of mismanagement—covering wildfires, homelessness, and utility scandals like PG&E’s deadly payouts.
However, while California’s failures are evident to all, its deep-seated corruption is not.
“A lot of people know about the progressive policies that have failed California under nuisance tenure. What they don’t know is about the corruption. And we deal with the corruption involving the wildfires, the utilities, and how he’s so close to the utilities,” Crabtree told Rion.
Crabtree continued: “But when you’re talking about the CCP, it’s interesting that [Newsom] brought all these Chinese companies into the Bay area and into the United States. But he wasn’t successful in doing the reverse, taking California companies and getting them into China, which would actually benefit the California companies the most.”
Crabtree detailed one of the most shocking things discovered and covered in Fool’s Gold.
“The most shocking thing was that Gavin Newsom was trademarking his own wines at the time he was setting up this China nonprofit and having it and bringing these companies in,” Crabtree said. “And then he actually had a wine tasting where he poured the wine himself at a very shishi restaurant in a building owned by one of his associates affiliated with China, S.F. and there were a lot of CCP officials at that wine tasting.”
“So we’re trying to see what was the really the motivation for creating this? Did it benefit him personally to get his wine into China? We believe that’s the case,” Crabtree concludes.
McFatter also questioned claims about jobs created under Gaving Newsom while he was mayor of San Francisco.
“We note in the book the number of jobs that they created was far below the average number of jobs, per billion dollars of foreign investment that were brought in, on average, across the rest of the country,” McFatter said.
“So it’s not clear that they didn’t create nearly the amount of jobs that they claim.”
