Joe Biden opened up the floodgates at the southern border —let’s not forget this fact. Day one of his presidency, Biden rolled back Trump-era border protections and stopped all construction on the border wall (which he has since quietly resumed construction on).
Now the September border numbers are finally in —after a suspicious delay. These are the last numbers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection that Americans will see before heading to the polls to cast their votes in the midterm elections.
And the number is huge.
More than 227,000 migrant encounters were logged by Border Patrol agents in the month of September —totalling more than 2.3 million for fiscal year 2022. That’s bad even before you realize that includes 98 terror watchlist arrests at the border.
For context, terror watchlist arrests at the border for the last five years combined was 26.
Yeah, it’s bad.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre gave, essentially, a non-answer when confronted with the record-breaking number of encounters.
“We’re seeing, again, a different challenge ahead of us that we’re dealing with. But, you know, and we’ve talked about this while we’re trying to deal with the challenges, as you all know, you have Republican governors who are using these migrants, using these folks who are trying to flee communism, falling regimes and economic collapse. As I just mentioned, they’re using them as a political pawn, which you’ve heard us call out many times from here, and you’ve heard the president call out. We are hard at work in driving toward a regional solution to manage this new challenge,” Jean-Pierre answered.
Interesting, while not exactly surprising, that she pivoted to GOP governors. The media, often in lock step with the Democratic Party, seems to be following a similar tact.
According to a report from Just The News, “ABC, NBC and CBS evening newscasts criticized Republican governors over the migrant crisis 13 times more than President Joe Biden in August and September, according to a study released Tuesday.”
“At the same time, the news giants dedicated fewer than 12 minutes a month on average to covering the southern border crisis in their evening broadcasts in fiscal 2022 as record numbers of migrants came into the United States, the study from the nonprofit Media Research Center found.”
The buck stops with Biden —this was Day One damage, self-inflicted, and entirely unnecessary.
