During a recent episode of The Drill Down, which featured food blogger Vani Hari, hosts Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers discussed food health, chemicals in our food supply, and HHS nominee RFK Jr.
Will the Senate confirm RFK Jr. in a full-chamber vote? Or is he too much of a threat to the status quo?
“What I love about the work that you’ve done is that you try to hold companies accountable,” Eggers said to Hari. “Companies like Kellogg’s, for example, said in 2015, ‘Hey, we’re going to take these artificial dyes out of our foods.’ And then, somehow, some time after the press release went away, the public attention did as well. And I guess they neglected, maybe they forgot.”
Eggers continued: “Vani, I’m not sure what you think happened to Kellogg’s, but you’ve tried to put some additional pressure on them. Is Kellogg’s unique that way? Or is this a widespread problem? We focus on
government accountability, the influence of money in politics, and the corruption aspect of it. How much of a threat do you feel like the nomination of RFK Jr., who just today passed his one round of Senate confirmation hearings, poses to the status quo of companies putting and creating dead food for the American people?”
“He’s a major threat to big pharma, big ag, and big food, because he’s going to dismantle the corruption that has allowed our country to be the worst in terms of health outcomes, even though we spend the most on healthcare,” Hari told The Drill Down crew.

A recent Gallup poll found RFK Jr. was the second most popular political figure in America, just behind President Donald Trump. But is it enough to get his confirmation over the line? We’ll know soon enough.
