This week marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title IX, the law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in education programs and school sports. It goes a little something like this…

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance,” the law says.

Any institution that doesn’t follow Title IX, can lose financial assistance and federal funding. It was all pretty cut and dry until, well, gender ideology and the rise of trans athletes. Legislators are faced with new questions of fairness and equality and forced to re-examine Title IX.

But Joe Biden’s Department of Education may not be the right folks for the job…

The Biden Administration is erasing women. Now, that statement sounds radical —but so is what the Education Department is proposing to do to Title IX. According to the Washington Free Beacon, “the proposed changes will effectively abolish sex-separate activities and spaces, including bathrooms and locker rooms. They would also define misuse of gender pronouns as a form of sexual harassment.”

But that’s not all…

“The Education Department cited the Supreme Court case Bostock v. Clayton County to justify its interpretation of Title IX, claiming schools may not discriminate against a person based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The department withheld a likely more controversial proposal that would allow transgender athletes to participate in women’s sports, saying it will provide the rule at a later date.”

Now, this has all the markings of a policy change few people want but, because of its amplification in the media, the Biden Administration will jump at it like a shiny object.

Let’s look at a left-leaning source to confirm this…

According to a recent Washington Post-University of Maryland poll (see, told you we’d go left) About 3 in 10 Americans say transgender women and girls should be allowed to compete in sports with other women and girls. That, obviously, is not a very high number.

“A shift from biological sex to gender identity means that girls and women will be forced to accept the presence of biological males in what have always been single-sex spaces.” said Erika Sanzi, the director of outreach for Parents Defending Education. “Dignity and respect matter for everyone but so do fairness and safety, and these proposed changes represent a total rejection of fairness and safety in the name of ideology.”

Nail on head.
