We’re in the midst of a “Democrats-Funneling-Money-to-
Last week, the Drill Down reported on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and her incredibly suspicious money trail, dropping $3 million to her husband Tim Mynett’s political consulting firm, the E Street Group, over several years.
Then there was also the curious case of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) who has paid her daughter, Karen Waters, more than $1.2 million dollars for “slate mailer management” and “campaign managing services.”
How wonderfully vague.
Now, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) has been caught sending more than 50 payments to family-owned entities totalling more than $200,000. According to a report from Fox news, the cash has been sent to five relatives, including two of his daughters, their husbands and a grandson, the records show.
Clyburn’s daughter, Jennifer Clyburn Reed, received $45,000 for a “campaign management fee” between the months of July and December back in 2020. Reed has also taken thousands of dollars for “office rent” in a move that’s not suspicious at all.
Angela Hannibal, another Clyburn kid on the take, received more than $20,000 for truck rentals, canvassing fees and voter outreach between April 2018 and October 2019.
Clyburn, not content with funneling money to just his daughters, also enriched their husbands.
“Clyburn’s campaign has dished out $62,500 in rent payments to a company called 49 Magnolia Blossom LLC since March 2020, federal records show. According to South Carolina business records, Jennifer Clyburn Reed’s husband, Walter A Reed, is the registered agent of the limited liability company,” Fox News reports.
“Angela’s husband, Cecil Hannibal, has also pocketed nearly $70,000 from Rep. Clyburn’s campaign committee for community and district outreach and travel reimbursements,” the report continues. $70,000 —where exactly was Mr. Hannibal traveling?
Then there’s Clyburn’s grandson, Walter A.C. Reed, who also enjoyed some campaign cash. Reed received six payments totaling $21,000 from Clyburn’s campaign committee during the first quarter of 2022. Reed received the payments as a “campaign management fee.”
Don’t count on any Clyburn comeuppance —this will likely be memory-holed in a week.
