Out of the 3,100 counties in the U.S., how many shifted toward Trump? The Drill Down digs in…
During this week’s episode of The Drill Down, GAI President Peter Schweizer and Vice President Eric Eggers analyze a key stat in the aftermath of the historic 2024 election.
“What percent shifted in favor of Donald Trump from 2020? What percent of the 3,100 counties
in this country shifted more to the right than four years ago?” Eggers asked Schweizer.
“I’ll say like 300 counties, which is 10%” Schweizer guessed.
“You would be wrong by a factor of a lot,” Egger shot back. It’s 90%. 90 % of the counties in this country
voted more conservatively or more in favor of Donald Trump than did four years ago. Now, I mean, think that tells you a couple of different things, but the answer to me lies in one of my favorite memes that I’ve seen kind of floating around.”
Eggerd continues: “The meme I’ve seen floating around says, ‘While your daughter is bleeding out in the hospital room without healthcare, natural disasters are ruining your home, and you no longer have social security — hope your eggs are cheaper.”
Schweizer points out that the fear-mongering tactics employed by Democrats largely fell flat.
“That worked really well in the election, didn’t it?” Schweizer asked jokingly. “But that typifies it to me because everything that they’re talking about is literally an abstract. It’s an abstract. Natural disasters? Trump’s responsible for more natural disasters, this whole thing about climate change. The data just doesn’t support it.”
