The Government Accountability Institute’s research into the wave of anti-ICE protests was featured on “Morning Wire,” describing what GAI research director Seamus Bruner calls “Migrant, Inc., Election Inc., and Riot, Inc.”
DailyWire’s John Bickley begins by noting that the Trump organization has focused on identifying fraud within social welfare programs as part of its actions against illegal immigration. They believe that fraud within social welfare programs is enabling and even encouraging illegal immigration to the US.
“We’re seeing this play out in Minnesota in a way that’s very dramatic,” Bickley said. “GAI has researched how this is taking place, not just in Minnesota, but in California, Maine, and other states. What have you learned?”
“Minnesota is a perfect example of showing what we’ve been calling the border-to-ballot-box pipeline and how welfare benefits fuel this whole system,” Bruner said. “Governor Walz covered it up.There are many whistleblowers from inside the executive branch of Minnesota saying that he has been covering up this systemic fraud.”
“And the numbers are astronomical — into the billions of dollars stolen from hardworking taxpayers by what turn out to be constituents of Governor Walz,” Bruner said. “The New York Times reported that Governor Walz covered up this whole fraud situation up because Somalis are a key voting bloc of Governor Walz and of the Democrats in Minnesota.”
“We found that this kind of benefits fraud is happening all over,” he added, including Maine and California.
The New York Times reported that voting blocs fueled by these welfare benefits and this keeps them reliably in the corner of people like Governor Walz or5:02Governor Newsom. It’s really a pernicious pipeline from the border to the ballot box.”
“What you’re saying is you guys have seen a correlation here and this truly looks like buying votes with key demographics particularly in Minnesota where the Somali vote really does determine who wins the state,” sais Bickley. What are you seeing in states such as California?”
“California Governor Newsom put $20 billion towards solving homelessness. That $20 billion disappears. It goes to various constituent groups and a lot of NGOs that receive money to solve homelessness,” Bruner said. “We found that a lot of the money dedicated towards homelessness has been redeployed towards uh illegal migrants, facilitating the resettlement of migrants because they don’t have homes when they come here.”
“So, the American homeless population are not getting the funds that should be helping them, getting them rehabilitated or off of drugs. It’s being ‘redeployed’ to bring in more migrants,” Bruner said.
“California is a great example of the border-to-ballot-box pipeline because, even if the migrants don’t end up on voter rolls yet, they get counted in the process of apportionment by the Census,” he said. “There are maybe 10 – 20 million non-citizens living in California who through the apportionment give the state more political power in the in the form of more representatives in Congress.”
Maine’s problems, Bruner added, are similar to Minnesota’s, including a large new population of Somalis. “So, very similar numbers that are not as eyepopping as Minnesota.”
“But it’s not just about catching the people who are committing the fraud. Obviously, they should be prosecuted. It’s the fact that the political leadership in these blue states looks the other way because they know that as long as the benefits flow, the communities receiving those benefits will stay reliably in their corner,” Bruner said.
