Billions of dollars in welfare fraud — but this isn’t new.
Minnesota is facing renewed scrutiny after President Donald Trump labeled the state a “hub of money laundering activity” and ordered a sweeping crackdown on fraud schemes tied to Somali-linked networks.
This, after billions of dollars were found to have been laundered through Minnesota’s welfare programs.
The move accompanies Trump’s decision to terminate deportation protections for hundreds of Somali migrants as federal agencies ramp up oversight.
Senior administration officials confirmed new probes this week, including a Treasury Department investigation into allegations that taxpayer funds were diverted to the terrorist group al-Shabaab. Treasury
Secretary Scott Bessent said the inquiry aims to uncover how billions of public dollars slipped through the system and to hold every responsible party to account.
During a recent media appearance, Director of Research Seamus Bruner reminded OAN host Dan Ball that EBT fraud is familiar territory for the folks at the Government Accountability Institute.
“EBT — we put out this report, I mentioned it the other night, the ‘T’ stands for terrorism,” Bruner said. And time and again, we have found terror attacks that are funded by EBT and other forms of welfare, just like this giant billion-dollar Somali fraud going on in Minneapolis.”
Bruner continued, calling out Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for being complicit in the fraud.
Bruner continued: “And it doesn’t take a lot of money to perpetrate things like 9/11. Half $1 million, actually … And of course, Tim Walz is complicit, and we know why. The New York Times even reported why. Because this is a key voting bloc.”
“This just shows that people like Tim Walls and his running mate Kamala Harris and all the rest of them, Obama, Joe Biden — they bring in people for key voting blocs, and they don’t care if they rip off the taxpayer. They don’t care if that money goes to terrorism. Apparently, they’re trying to cover it up.
