On May 31st, 2024, Joe Biden shared this message on X: “No one is above the law.”
In the days and months since that post, Biden pardoned his embattled son Hunter Biden of tax and gun crimes; pardoned thousands of inmates accused of nonviolent crimes; commuted the sentences of 37 of the 40 people on federal death row; pardoned Dr. Anthony Fauci, General Mark Milley, and members of the January 6th Committee — but he saved his biggest pardon for last.
Joe Biden, with seconds ticking down until Donald Trump assumed the presidency, pardoned and protected nearly everyone in his family — a family that was under investigation for influence-peddling and potential FARA violations all over the globe.
Biden pardoned … The Bidens!
“My family has been subjected to unrelenting attacks and threats, motivated solely by a desire to hurt me—the worst kind of partisan politics. Unfortunately, I have no reason to believe these attacks will end,” the outgoing president said in a statement minutes before leaving office.
“I believe in the rule of law, and I am optimistic that the strength of our legal institutions will ultimately prevail over politics. But baseless and politically motivated investigations wreak havoc on the lives, safety, and financial security of targeted individuals and their families. Even when individuals have done nothing wrong and will ultimately be exonerated, the mere fact of being investigated or prosecuted can irreparably damage their reputations and finances.”
Biden added: “That is why I am exercising my power under the Constitution to pardon James B. Biden, Sara Jones Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, John T. Owens, and Francis W. Biden. The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that they engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense.”
Shortly after learning about the pardons, GAI President and bestselling New York Times author Peter Schweizer called them an “utter disgrace.”
“This pardon is an utter disgrace. A singular act that confirms the deep corruption he has denied for years. We have never had such a self-serving and corrupt president in our history,” Schweizer said.
Back in 2020, Schweizer penned a piece for The New York Post while promoting his book Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite. The piece, How five members of Joe Biden’s family got rich through his connections, identified James Biden, Hunter Biden, Frank Biden, and Valerie Biden Owens as “family members benefiting from [Joe Biden’s] largesse, favorable access and powerful position for commercial gain. In Biden’s case, these deals include foreign partners and, in some cases, even US taxpayer dollars.”
Now it looks like the “Biden 5” are off the hook.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer, who was leading many of the investigations into the Biden family, released the following statement on X:
“President Biden’s preemptive pardons for the Biden Crime Family serve as a confession of their corruption as they sold out the American people to enrich themselves. Our investigation revealed that at least ten members of the Biden Crime Family and their associates raked in over $30 million by selling Joe Biden’s influence to corrupt foreign entities and individuals in China, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, and Kazakhstan. The legacy media should be ashamed of themselves for covering up Joe Biden and his family’s abuse of power, corruption, and obstruction. The American people have seen through the legacy media’s coverup and the Bidens’ lies, and they know the truth: President Biden abused his public office to create a slush fund for his family. President Biden will go down as the most corrupt president in U.S. history, and our investigation will be remembered as one of the most successful ever conducted by Congress.”
Joe Biden was wrong — his family is evidently above the law.
