We have a feeling Americans may make a stronger effort to get those taxes in on time…
According to a report from OpenTheBooks.com, nontraditional defense agencies like the IRS, SSA, and EPA have been stockpiling arms. The IRS alone has purchased the following since 2020:
$2.3 million on duty ammunition; $1.2 million on ballistic shields plus another $1.3 million on ‘various other gear for criminal investigation agents’; $474,000 on Smith & Wesson rifles; $467,000 on duty tactical lighting; $463,000 on Beretta 1301 tactical shotguns; $354,000 on tactical gear bags; 267,000 on ballistic helmets; and $243,000 on body armor vests.
That’s a lot of firepower and now we know why the number crunchers have been stuffing their gunlocker with some serious firepower.
According to a Fox News report, the IRS is preparing to roll out a special unit that will no doubt have a CBS primetime show by next year: the IRS Criminal Investigation Division. This special division will span all 50 states, carry guns and make arrests.
From Fox News:
Under the posting’s “major duties” section, the IRS says that special agents “[c]arry a firearm; must be prepared to protect him/herself or others from physical attacks at any time and without warning and use firearms in life-threatening situations; must be willing to use force up to and including the use of deadly force.”
Additionally, IRS-CI special agents must be “willing and able to participate in arrests, execution of search warrants, and other dangerous assignments.” The posting adds that special agents need to maintain “a level of fitness necessary to effectively respond to life-threatening situations on the job.”
And the Biden Administration and the IRS absolutely don’t want Americans to know this is happening. In fact, look how IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel talks around the question when Rep Adrian Smith (R-NE) tries to get a straight answer out of him.
“You said earlier that you’re not hiring any new special agents that will be armed. It sounds to me like you are,” Smith asks Werfel.
“My understanding of the question was around audits…our criminal investigation division, they do not conduct audits,” Werfel answers.
I don’t think any American thought guns were being brought in on audit procedures But what is alarming is the rate at which the federal government is arming non-DOD departments with deadly firearms to go after folks.
