What About China? Eggers Talks Trump Trade Strategy, 'Equal Parts Carrot and Stick' [WATCH]

During a recent interview on President Trump’s trade agenda and tariff strategy, GAI Vice President Eric Eggers analyzed how the Trump Administration is handling China.

“I think [China is] seeing what’s happening in Japan and what’s happened in Korea. I think there’s an effort on some level to isolate China, by force, by cultivating these deals with the EU and other countries around the globe,” Egger said. “So, I think that they’ll continue to negotiate, but it’s been equal parts carrot and stick. I think I mentioned on your show last time, Nvidia, this U.S. software giant, can sell their chips back in China again.”

Eggers continued: “That’s obviously something that’s good for the American economy. So I think they’ll strike deals in China. China wants access to the US market. The US wants access to the Chinese market. And so I think that’s ultimately going to be what they negotiate over.”

Eggers also discussed the timeline for the Trump economy to reach its potential — billions of dollars in investments have been announced.

“The fact that they’re getting these deals in place is the first step. Now, you actually have to have these companies in these countries that have made pledges to invest in the U.S. economy. It takes a while to build factories, right? It takes a while to do these things,” Eggers said.
