July 25th, 1965. Newport Folk Festival. Bob Dylan goes electric, alienating many members of his core audience, but gaining new listeners in the process. Early Dylan adopters would lament that day. “I remember when Dylan was cool,” they’d say. “Give me North Country Blues,” they’d pine.
And that’s kind of like the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Who are all these new folks at the party? CNN is saying it’s clear Hunter Biden benefited financially from his father’s name? The New York Times says the laptop is real and it’s incriminating? And here come the Bezos Boys, fashionably late, confirming Hunter Biden’s deals with Chinese energy companies? Ugh, who invited these guys? And they brought a “late pass”:
“After the New York Post began publishing reports on the contents of the laptop in October 2020, The Washington Post repeatedly asked Giuliani and Republican strategist Stephen K. Bannon for a copy of the data to review before the election, but the requests were rebuffed or ignored,” WaPo states.
So you dropped your journalistic integrity —your pursuit of the truth —because you couldn’t copy someone else’s notes? Come on, WaPo —you’re killing me. You didn’t report it because you didn’t want it to be true and you already wrote the ending to the 2020 election —It was a forgone conclusion, as far as you were concerned.
But now you’re circling back for one of 2020’s biggest underreported stories. Okay, have at it.
“While many aspects of Hunter Biden’s financial arrangement with CEFC China Energy have been previously reported and were included in a Republican-led Senate report from 2020, a Washington Post review confirmed many of the key details and found additional documents showing Biden family interactions with Chinese executives,” WaPo reports.
Notice how they say “Republican-led Senate report” to excuse themselves from ignoring the story to begin with? Can’t trust Republicans. Very sneaky, WaPo. Okay, what else do you have?
“Over the course of 14 months, the Chinese energy conglomerate and its executives paid $4.8 million to entities controlled by Hunter Biden and his uncle, according to government records, court documents and newly disclosed bank statements, as well as emails contained on a copy of a laptop hard drive that purportedly once belonged to Hunter Biden.”
Shocking. Crackerjack stuff, boys. Three writers on the by line. Excellent. A few names absent from this article: Peter Schweizer, Chuck Grassley, Ron Johnson, Breitbart News, the Government Accountability Institute
…too many to list. You’re standing on the shoulders of giants —but thanks for showing up, WaPo.
Give me North Country Blues.
