The Socialist Show: Eggers Warns of 'Theater-Kid Politics' in the Big Apple [LISTEN]

Eggers’ message to New Yorkers: “You survived a lot, you’ll survive this.”

GAI Vice President Eric Eggers sat down with Greg Kelly to unpack the meteoric rise of Zohran Mamdani, the socialist candidate who shocked New York City’s political establishment.

Eggers argued that Mamdani’s victory wasn’t an endorsement of socialism at all — but a revolt against decades of Democratic failure, from sky-high costs and crime to deep political decay.

He blasted Mamdani’s campaign as “theater-kid politics,” a performance built on style over substance, fueled by media glorification and voter apathy.

“Mamdani appeared to be a theater kid — he’s play acting,” Eggers said of Mamdani’s victory speech. “He’s still selling a fantasy — to be able to make everyday life for New York City residents cheaper. I don’t believe that will be the case. It’s never been done successfully before. I do not believe someone with zero political experience and zero professional experience will get it done now.”

Eggers warned that anti-American rhetoric is becoming normalized among young progressives, part of a well-funded ideological movement organized through left-wing and foreign-linked networks — one that could reshape U.S. cities.

In the end, he called it what it is: “the fantasy of democratic socialism meeting real-world consequences.”
