Rising energy costs around the globe once again forces policymakers and voters to consider the trade-offs involved in making the switch to greener forms of energy. On the latest episode of the Drill Down podcast, Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers discuss the darker side of the transition away from fossil fuels—the environmental and social cost of green energy.

While oil and coal’s environmental costs are well-documented, the risks associated green energy are less well-known, or, rather, less publicly acknowledged. Solar panels and advanced batteries require materials that are not just rare and expensive to extract and refine, but incredibly risky for the communities that happen to be located near or on those rare deposits.

Peter and Eric explore how communities in Bolivia and Fiji, among others, have pushed back on some projects proposed by multinational corporations backed by powerful governments.
