Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute, told Glenn Beck that China’s reach inside the United States is no longer subtle but sprawling. He pointed to the roughly 600,000 Chinese students admitted into the country — not simply learners, he argued, but operatives of the Communist Party engaged in espionage, money laundering, and political agitation.
“Here’s what we know: the Chinese students coming to the United States have engaged in espionage,” Schweizer said. “And by the way, they’re not coming here to study comparative literature or sociology. The vast majority, over 90% are in the hard sciences. It is stealing our secrets. We also know, by the way, that the fentanyl trade in the United States, as we’ve talked about before, the Chinese are intimately involved in that.”
Additionally, according to GAI research, a startling pattern has emerged: Chinese-owned land is located adjacent to all 20 U.S. military bases examined. Given Beijing’s dominance in drone technology, Schweizer warned, the proximity is not a coincidence but a potential threat, a silent encirclement of American defenses.
“We’re working on a report right now. One of our top researchers randomly selected 20 military bases in the United States. And he wanted to look at land records on those 20 military installations. Do you know how many have Chinese-owned land that is just adjacent to those military bases?
“The answer, Glenn, is all 20. So this is a massive problem.”
Schweizer also turned his fire on California Governor Gavin Newsom, who vetoed bipartisan legislation aimed at curbing foreign land purchases. Schweizer tied the decision to Newsom’s own business ties in Napa Valley, suggesting that private interests had been allowed to outweigh national security.
