During a recent appearance on Seve Bannon’s War Room, GAI President Peter Schweizer and Vice President Eric Eggers revisited their investigations into the Clintons, first laid out in the 2015 bestseller Clinton Cash. They detailed how Bill and Hillary Clinton monetized political power through speaking fees, foundation donations, and foreign contracts often linked to State Department favors.
“We showed that the Clintons were taking huge sums of money in the form of speaking fees that Bill Clinton was getting while Hillary was the Secretary of State,” Schweizer said. “This is coming from foreign sources like Russia and China — these very corrupt corners of the earth. And the Clinton Foundation itself was getting large donations from people who were getting favor from the State Department. They were getting Haitian reconstruction contracts, etc.. So that was the genesis of the book. It was a paper trail. It was the money trail.”
The discussion spotlighted Uranium One, the diversion of Haitian earthquake aid, and how the Clintons created a corruption playbook later echoed by the Bidens.
“I would argue that kind of laid the pattern which the Bidens followed later, with regard to China,” Schweizer continued.
Eggers chimed in: “I think you can’t separate the Biden family corruption, which we also chronicled here at the Government Accountability Institute. Remember, Joe Biden’s Vice President, Hunter Biden, is his son. They’re watching how much money the Clintons are making because she’s the Secretary of State.”
“One of the more shocking statistics to learn is this: Bill Clinton, after he leaves the presidency, gives 13 speeches for which he’s paid over half $1 million dollars. He leaves the office in 2000. Eleven of those speeches in which he’s paid over half a million dollars don’t come until Hillary becomes Secretary of State. And, as Peter likes to say, he either became a better speaker or people realized the front door to the State Department was through Bill’s wallet.”
Schweizer and Eggers also discuss how early FBI probes were thwarted by DOJ leadership. With new grand jury inquiries reportedly examining the Clinton Foundation, they argued the questions remain as urgent as ever.
