Schweizer Busts ‘Tiananmen Tim': Why DOJ & Congress Must Investigate Walz’s Deep History With the CCP [Watch]

During a recent episode of The Drill Down podcast, Government Accountability Institute President and best-selling author Peter Schweizer and GAI Vice President Eric Eggers laid out all of the troubling ties Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz has to China — specifically the Chinese Communist Party.

In the eight days since Tim Walz has now been officially named Kamala Harris is vice presidential running mate. We’ve been able to do some more research and our investigation into him is ongoing,” Eggers revealed during the episode.

“It is. And what we were able to ascertain initially is that Tim Walz had some interesting, I would say
unusual and even troubling ties to China,” Schweizer said. “Walz has traveled to China extensively. That’s no big deal in and of itself — he had a student exchange program where he brought American students to China.”

“It’s a little bit more concerning here because that program was actually funded by the Chinese. And of course, when you say it’s funded by the Chinese, it’s not some nonprofit. It’s actually the Chinese Communist Party that runs that,” Schweizer continued. “And some very interesting comments from some of the students that were involved in that program. There was a local media account, for example, where one of the students said that Walz told the students to downplay their Americanness when they were in China, which
strikes me as odd.”

I mean, if we’re going to have a cultural exchange, right? I mean, the purpose is to get to know each other. And I certainly wouldn’t expect him to tell Chinese students coming to the United States to downplay their Chineseness,” Schweizer said.

House Republicans announced they will probe Walz’s ties to China.

From The Washington Times:

Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, Kentucky Republican, cited reports that Mr. Walz, who was tapped by Vice President Kamala Harris to be her running mate, has visited China some 30 times over the years and how those visits yielded “concerning ties” to the Chinese Communist Party.

In a letter to FBI Director Christopher A. Wray, Mr. Comer requested that the bureau provide the panel by Aug. 30 any information about Chinese entities and officials Mr. Walz may have engaged and partnered with, plus “any warnings or advice the FBI may have given to Gov. Walz about U.S. political figures being targeted by or recruited for CCP influence operations.”
