How long can the Biden Administration protect Hunter Biden?

This week, Janet Yellen’s Treasury Department denied requests from House Oversight Chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY) who asked for Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) on Hunter Biden. SARs are collected by banks when transactions exceed $10K or criminal activity is suspected.

So, it’s likely Hunter has a few.

Assistant Treasury Secretary for Legislative Affairs Jonathan Davidson doesn’t feel the Oversight Committee has made a strong enough case to hand over the reports.

“It is important that a requesting committee specify in writing its purpose in seeking to obtain the requested information and the use it intends to make of it so that the Department can make a determination as to whether the disclosure is appropriate and consistent with longstanding Executive Branch interests, including the protection of ongoing law enforcement investigations,” Davidson wrote, according to The Hill.

Its “purpose?” How about “to catch a possible criminal?”

How about Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings —the $700K he was paid through Rosemont Seneca Bhai while sitting on the board of Ukraine energy company Burisma holdings?  Or Hunter and Uncle Jim’s shady dealings with Chinese energy company CEFC?

Oversight chairman Comer, obviously, wasn’t pleased.

“At the start of the Biden Administration, the Treasury Department changed longstanding policy to severely restrict Congress’ access to suspicious activity reports. Now, Biden’s Treasury Department appears to be going even further to restrict access. This coordinated effort by the Biden Administration to hide information about President Biden and his family’s shady business schemes is alarming and raises many questions. We will continue to press for access to suspicious activity reports generated for the Biden family and their associates, and will use the power of the gavel to get them if needed,” Comer said in a statement.

Remember when FBI Director Christopher Wray testified last year that Hunter Biden’s dealings with China could be described as a “malign foreign influence” campaign?

Well, the Treasury Department does not, apparently.
