Last week, former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook dropped a bombshell during special counsel John Durham’s trial of Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann. Back in 2016, Sussmann took a bogus Trump-Russia story to the FBI, claiming to be an unaffiliated good samaritan.
You may have heard something about this.
According to the Wall Street Journal, “Prosecutors presented evidence…that Mr. Sussmann worked with cyber-researchers and opposition-research firm Fusion GPS to produce the claims on behalf of the Clinton campaign, and to feed them to the FBI. An FBI agent testified that a bureau analysis quickly rejected the claims as implausible. (Sussmann has pleaded not guilty.)”
Prosecutors say Sussmann hid the fact that he worked for Clinton and now we know, thanks to Mr. Mook, that Hillary Clinton herself approved the story’s dissemination. It went a little something like this: Trump has a secret connection to Russia’s Alfa Bank, and is totally crooked.
Now we know the opposite to be true. And if you’re playing the home game, and you’ve been rocking a “Crooked Hillary” shirt since 2016, you may award yourself extra points at this time.
“Prosecutors asked Mr. Mook about his role in funneling the Alfa Bank claims to the press,” WSJ continues. “Mr. Mook admitted the campaign lacked expertise to vet the data, yet the decision was made by Mr. Mook, policy adviser Jake Sullivan (now President Biden’s national security adviser), communications director Jennifer Palmieri and campaign chairman John Podesta to give the Alfa Bank claims to a reporter. Mr. Mook said Mrs. Clinton was asked about the plan and approved it. A story on the Trump-Alfa Bank allegations then appeared in Slate, a left-leaning online publication.”

Former President Trump, of course, isn’t surprised by this at all. In fact, he’s been screaming it from the mountain tops for years. “This is one of the greatest political scandals in history,” Trump told Fox News Saturday morning. “For three years, I had to fight her off, and fight those crooked people off, and you’ll never get your reputation fully back.”
“Where do I get my reputation back?”
Prominent GOP members are calling for Clinton to be held accountable.
“Hillary Clinton and Jake Sullivan knew the Trump-Russia collusion dossier was false but pretended to play dumb with the American people,” Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) said in a statement on Twitter. “Everyone involved in cooking up the false Trump-Russian collusion narrative should be held fully accountable — including Hillary Clinton,” she added.
“The fact that the Hillary Clinton campaign manufactured this entire Russian collusion hoax and the FBI … concluded that this is preposterous — it’s BS … And yet they set up the Mueller probe,” Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) said. “Hillary Clinton on the issue of Alfa Bank said, ‘I just heard about this on the news.’ No! Their campaign planted it in the news, and, of course, those news outlets that had the story.”
Finally, ranking member on the HOuse Judiciary Committee Jim Jordan (R-OH) said “[y]ou get [Fusion GPS co-founder] Glenn Simpson to peddle it to the press. You get Michael Sussmann, who’s working for you as your campaign lawyer, to take it to the FBI. And then you act like, oh, we don’t know where this came from.”
“Everyone was in on this.”
Bingo, Mr. Jordan —now what are we going to do about it?
