Expert: Governments Often Conspire Against the Best Interests of the People [WATCH]

During a recent episode of The Drill Down podcast, JFK assassination expert and author Gerald Posner said that, while he’s skeptical of conspiracy theories, he’s not ruling out the idea when it comes to discussing the Trump assassination attempt last month.

Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer questioned Posner on conspiracies.

“You’re a guy who is skeptical of these theories, but you’re concerned. What do you want to see happening from the standpoint of the investigation over the next couple of months?” Schweizer asked Posner.

“You’re right when you say I’m a skeptic of conspiracy theories but that doesn’t mean that I say they’re not possible. I understand that governments sometimes conspire against the best interests of the people. What do I want? I want the information, as quickly as possible. Are we going to get that in [time for the election]? Not all of it, for sure. Because governments fight to hold back the information that would be most embarrassing to them.”

Some lawmakers, like Representative Eli Crane (R-AZ), have suggested someone is behind the shooting.

“Not only did they try and bankrupt [Trump], but they tried to put him in prison,” Crane told radio host Jeff Oravits in Arizona last week. “When that didn’t work, they tried to put him in prison for 750 years. And many of us said the next step in this escalation is for them to try and kill him because they can’t — they know they can’t beat him fair and square.”

Crane said something similar on The Glenn Beck Program.

“I don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist, but at the same time, I don’t want to, you know, rule anything out because I don’t put it past some of the people in our government to do anything necessary to hold on to power.”
