Emails reviewed by the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) show that, in 2017, Joe Biden wrote a college recommendation at the request of a Chinese executive who did business with Hunter Biden.
The emails originated from the Hunter Biden laptop and were first discovered by GAI. Several media outlets have verified the authenticity of the laptop and the emails residing on the laptop.
Jonathan Li, the CEO of investment fund BHR, in an email to Devon Archer and copied to Jim Bulger and Hunter Biden, asked for advice regarding his son’s college applications that he was submitting to Brown University, Cornel University, and New York University.
In February of last year, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki acknowledged that Hunter Biden owned a 10 percent stake in the Bohai Harvest RST (Shanghai) Equity Investment Fund Management Co. (BHR Partners).
Li wrote on January 3, 2017, “Please find the attached resume of my son, Chris Li. He is applying the following colleges for this year….Please can you provide some advice for his applications.”
Replying to all, Bulger, chairman and co-founder of the Thornton Group financial advisory firm, responded to Li, writing they had “received the updated version of the CV.”
Bulger added, “lets see how we can be helpful here to Chris.”
Less than two months after Li’s request, Eric Schwerin – who was at the time the president of Rosemont Seneca, the investment firm co-founded by Hunter Biden – responded to Jonathan Li.
Schwerin wrote, “Hunter asked me to send you a copy of the recommendation letter that he asked his father to write on behalf of Christopher for Brown University. The original is being FedExed to Dr. Paxson directly at Brown. It should be there by Tuesday at the latest (given Monday is a holiday here in the U.S.). Let us know if you have any questions. Best, Eric.”
Dr. Christina Paxson is the president of Brown University.
Jonathan Li responded to Schwerin’s email the next day.
“Hi Eric, Just see the email. It is just great! Thank you very much! And Hunter, thank you very much too. All the best to you all.”
The emails further raise questions about President Joe Biden’s continued position that he has never talked to Hunter Biden about his foreign business deals.
