Government Accountability Institute Vice President Eric Eggers joined Perry Atkinson on Focus Today for a conversation about socialism’s growing influence in U.S. cities, the decay of election integrity, and what he describes as a culture of corruption inside federal programs.
Eggers pointed to New York’s election of socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani as a flashing red light, arguing that the movement behind him is intertwined with radical Islamic influence.
“You’ve got reporting recently that Zoran Mamdani is tied to some of the same funding networks that pushed the mayor of Dearborn and helped him become elected,” Eggers said. “[Mamdani] has embraced some of those cultural ties. Unfortunately, he was supported by people who are connected to the first World Trade Center bombing and other incidents of domestic terrorism that, I think, most people would be shocked that New York City would embrace. So, it is troubling.”
He accused Washington of turning a blind eye to massive fraud in federal programs like SNAP.
“On the most recent episode of The Drill Down, we talked to somebody who’s an expert in the SNAP and food
stamp fraud department, and he said that one benefit of this program being frozen is they’re able to take a look under the hood and identify some of the more egregious examples of the fraud and waste that’s happening within this program that’s meant to feed needy and hungry families.”
Eggers continued: “And they found that people are registered for food stamps in six different states. Some people have cards with balances over $60,000, which they can then turn around and sell for cash on the black market. So this is an example of a program that’s been exploited with a significant error rate.”
Eggers also discussed his book Fraud: How the Left Plans to Steal the Next Election, outlining what he sees as vulnerabilities in mail-in voting, manipulated voter rolls, and the Biden administration’s quiet effort to federalize voter registration.
The interview closed with a sober look at the ballooning federal deficit, broken education policy, and the gridlock choking Capitol Hill.
