As previously reported by The Drill Down, eight illegal migrants from Tajikistan with ties to ISIS were apprehended in a multi-city sting that included ICE and FBI operations in New York City, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles.
These migrants were originally stopped at the border, “vetted,” and released.
After a months-long investigation, the eight suspected terrorists were caught before they could carry out their nefarious plot, which some reports claim could have been a bombing.
While the Biden Administration may have averted disaster this time, it may not be so luck in the future. According to a report from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Inspector General, DHS has not been effectively screening illegal migrants encountered at the border.
After a DHS audit, the IG found that “DHS’ technology, procedures, and coordination were not fully effective to screen and vet non-citizens applying for admission into the United States or asylum seekers whose asylum applications were pending for an extended period.”
“Although CBP deployed new technologies to enhance traveler screening, it could not access all Federal data necessary to enable complete screening and vetting of noncitizens seeking admission into the United States,” the IG continued, in the report.
The IG added: “In addition, CBP used varied and sometimes inconsistent inspection procedures for travelers arriving in vehicles at land POEs. Finally, CBP does not have the technology to perform biometric matching on travelers arriving in vehicles at land ports of entry.”
“Not fully effective.”
“Could not access all Federal data.”

Eight terrorists with ISIS ties is, very likely, a drop in the bucket.
The IG’s conclusion: “Without having full access to all federally held data, querying all noncitizens entering the country, and having biometric matching capability at all POEs, CBP is at risk of allowing criminals, suspected terrorists or other nefarious actors to enter the United States.”
Now think back to how many times DHS Secretary Mayorkas told the American people the border crisis was under control. Or worse — there was no crisis.
The level of gaslighting is shocking.
