The campaign for Prop 1, California’s pro-abortion legislation being co-chaired by Hillary Clinton and Gavin Newsom, is running an advertisement that falsely portrays a pro-life advocate’s celebration over the repeal of Roe v. Wade as an act of despair.
Macy Petty is a 20-year-old, Pro-Life advocate who stood on the steps of the Supreme Court of the United States on June 24th, 2022, the day the Dobbs v. Jackson decision was handed down. As Macy read the Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, she dropped to her knees and wept, overcome with joy. But that is not the picture Hillary Clinton painted.
On October 18th, Clinton posted an advertisement on social media highlighting her joint campaign with Gavin Newsom, Yes on Prop 1a constitutional amendment which, if passed, would give women the ability to terminate their pregnancy up until birth.
In the advertisement, Macy is portrayed as distraught over the Supreme Court’s decision. She is pictured in the 3rd clip, crying, “SAD” overlayed on the video.
When she saw Hillary Clinton’s deceptive use of her video, Macy promptly spoke out, asking the campaign to stop using the image. In the original footage, which Macy posted to her Instagram account, it is clear Macy is a Pro-Life student, thus leading her to believe the use of her video was a purposeful attack that “distorted [her] emotions as part of [Clinton’s] political game”
“Could you not find an early 20-year-old who was truly sad about the Dobbs decision” – Macy Petty wondered?
Petty, who describes her experience at the Capitol as the historic decision was announced as “breathtaking,” made it clear that her opinion on the decision was the polar opposite of the way it was portrayed.
Petty states, “In the video, [Clinton] note[s] “we’ are sad, I am not ‘we.’ I strongly oppose Prop 1. Do not include me in your efforts to further manipulate women and violently take life from the most vulnerable and innocent among us”
